Kilbeg House, Isle of Skye

A private garden situated on the Sleat peninsula on Skye with far reaching coastal views. Andrew started this project in 2017, working alongside the garden owners to develop the gardens. This is an ongoing and exciting project, which has evolved within the setting of a semi mature garden.

The essential brief is to develop the garden within the sound structural framework of existing trees. Creating new features and planting schemes and making the garden of greater interest both aesthetically and horticulturally, increasing the plant content.

Completed projects have included the clearance, re-design and planting of a border close to the house known as the ‘Quarry Bed’. The clearance and re- building of a pond with associated stone work. The design and planting of a new shelter border, and the planting of a ‘Birch Grove’.

Projects currently underway include the construction of a reflecting pool garden and the re-design of the terrace surrounding the house. Appraisal of existing tree cover is continuous with ongoing tree work, and continuous planting of new trees, which has included Metasequoia glyptostroboides, Pinus wallichiana, Betula ermanii, Prunus x yedoensis and Taxodium distichum.
